What makes the Sapphire UV Filter different from standard UV filters?
STC uses 0.6mm Taiwan-made single-crystal glass (semiconductor grade) with the lowest Optical Path Difference (OPD) in the industry, minimizing diffraction. It is toughened to withstand 800MPa and has a flatness of ±20μm, making it suitable for 120MP and 8K video.
What thread sizes are available?
Available in 62mm, 67mm, 72mm, 77mm, and 82mm.
Will this filter cause vignetting?
No. The super slim 5mm shock-absorbent aluminum rim is specifically designed to prevent vignetting while also protecting your lens from impact.
Does the carbon black rim serve a purpose?
Yes. The carbon black outer rim reduces glare and ghost images, improving image quality especially in high-contrast shooting conditions.
Is this filter covered by a warranty?
Yes. STC offers the world's first warranty and repair service for filters, covering this filter against manufacturing defects.
Precision grinding and polishing produce surface flatness of ＜4Å(AFM/KLA), equivalent to ±4cm over a lake 100km in diameter. The special optical film stack design on the 82mm filter (spectral wavelength 400~650nm) effectively suppresses infrared light after 650nm, making it a good choice for astrophotography. The 62mm, 72mm, and 77mm filters all use full-spectrum coating for transmission of 99.5%. The outer edge has been carbon blackened, reducing ghost images by absorbing reflectivity and diffused infrared within the lens.
For the rim, we use precision machining for a tough but lightweight aluminum alloy frame. The 5mm shock-absorbent frame reduces vignetting when using a wide-angle lens. The inner circle is treated with non-stick Teflon and a matte black finish and the embossed frame is easy to rotate. The shock-absorbent frame also reduces the chance of damage to your lens if it takes a knock. We also offer a factory lifetime warranty and repair service for the frame and innovative maintenance services for the lens.
