During my recent trips to Japan, I have tested with STC PURE Hybrid CPL filter to get many amazing images for landscape or street photography in Tokyo, Mt. Fuji area and northern east Japan. I found some tips and features of this filter through these photos I took, and this filter is really a great tool for travel photography.
The STC PURE Hybrid CPL filter corrects its colors closer to what naked eyes see, achieving a non-color cast effect that is more friendly for post-processing and reduces efforts for color correction. The 2nd generation PURE Hybrid CPL filter did accurately narrate the colors of the scene.
Secondly, this filter corrects reflection in the air or on the surface of the object but is still bright enough to use on cloudy days or night time, ease my burden to prepare and to carry two functional filters - CPL and Protector. I don’t either have to remember to remove the CPL when in a low light scene and still get sharp images. As a traveler and photographer, this filter did solve my desire to be prepared for incidents during my trip and enjoyed the trip and my photo creations.

Ricardo tested with both Hybrid CPL and PURE Hybrid CPL and we can find our new model filter brings more clarity to the image and keep the original colors. It will better suits for the coming generation ultra high-resolution and ultra high-color saturation cameras.
STC recently announced the release of a revision of their well known Hybrid CPL (Circular Polarising) Filter.
What is the difference between the ‘New’ Pure CPL Hybrid filter and its predecessor? According to STC the new filter has a more neutral colour balance.
I have used the original STC Hybrid CPL filter for some years now, so was interested to see the difference between the two filters for myself. As a result I obtained a STC Pure Hybrid CPL filter and put it to the test.
As can be seen by the above screen shots the colour rendition between ‘Without filter and Pure Hybrid CPL filter’ are quite evenly matched and more neutral, whereas the original Hybrid CPL filter shows a slight cyan cast. Sharpness with or without either of the two Hybrid CPL filters is unaffected, nor is there any evidence of fringing thanks to the ultra slim high quality Schott glass and multi coating used. The Pure filter also makes a very good job of blocking UV light – see the examples below for further proof.

Polarizer(PL) is used to remove the reflection by rotate the filter glass. Many image signal would loss because of the reflection, like the reflection on the green leaves we miss the color signal, or the reflection on water surface we miss the underwater object signal, or the signal loss for the object outside a clear window glass. We can rotate the CPL filter screw on our lens to remove specific angle light and reflection to get those missed color or object signals. CPL can also filter the reflection in the air, so we can use it to get more clear and colorful and vivid scenery.
