Does your brand new lens need protection without compromise? STC Optics' ORCA Lens Protector is polished super flat (within ±20μm tolerances!) to ensure edge-to-edge sharpness. We've chemically strengthened the glass with our Ultra Layer coatings. The lens can take a hit from a golf ball dropped from 120cm. You will be hard pressed to find a lens protector of this quality at these prices!
Unlike UV filters, the ORCA contains no UV coating — preserving the maximum 99.5% light transmittance for the purest optical performance. UV coatings introduce additional reflective surfaces that can cause unwanted flare and ghosting, especially in strong backlit or high-contrast lighting conditions. The better the UV coating, the more reflective surfaces it adds — and the greater the risk of flare. By eliminating the UV coating entirely, the ORCA delivers cleaner, flare-free images with no color shift or contrast impact.

Frequently Asked Questions
What thread sizes are available?
Available in 37mm, 39mm, 40.5mm, 43mm, 46mm, 49mm, 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, 60mm, 62mm, 67mm, 72mm, 77mm, 82mm, 86mm, 95mm, and 105mm.
Why does the ORCA not have a UV coating?
The ORCA is designed as a pure lens protector, not a UV filter. UV coatings add extra reflective surfaces to the glass — and the higher the quality of the UV coating, the more reflective layers it introduces, increasing the risk of flare and ghosting in strong or backlit lighting. By omitting the UV coating entirely, the ORCA achieves 99.5% light transmittance with no flare risk, no color shift, and no contrast impact. It is ideal for photographers who want optical protection without any filtering side effects.
Will this protector cause vignetting?
The super slim 5mm frame is designed to minimize vignetting, even with wide-angle lenses.
How impact-resistant is the ORCA?
The chemically strengthened glass can withstand the impact of a golf ball dropped from 120cm, and the shock-absorbent 6061 aluminum alloy frame provides additional protection for your lens.
Does it help with fogging?
Yes. The patented heat-dissipating frame design helps quickly deal with fogging in temperature-changing environments.

1.1mm Schott B270 optical glass shortens the optical path, reducing diffraction and glare. Increased thermal conductivity also makes mist go away more quickly. Patented 35μm strengthening technology toughens the glass to 350MPa, equivalent to a golf ball from 120cm three times. Surface flatness of ±20μm for clear images in high resolution. A carbon black rim also reduces and absorbs refracted infrared light and ghost images from reflections.

Patented Ultra Layer nanocoating technology conforms to EU RoHS 2.0 standards, using silicon dioxide and titanium oxide to create a double-sided multilayer nanocoating that is anti-reflective, hydrophobic, anti-smudge, wear-resistant and antistatic to make it easy to keep clean.
This double-sided anti-reflective coating uses silicon oxide and titanium oxide, raising transmission to a uniform 99.38%, with reflectivity below 0.3%.

For the rim, we use precision machining for a tough but lightweight aluminum alloy frame. The super slim 3.5mm(after installation) design reduces vignetting when using a wide-angle lens. Matte black finish and embossed frame is easy to rotate, won’t jam and is easy to remove. The shock-absorbent frame also reduces the chance of damage to your lens if it takes a knock.
