Specially designed for PENTAX Full-Frame and APS-C camera series, the STC Cine Mist Filter delicately handles highlights, providing a natural and subtle softness without excessive effects. It gently brightens the shadow areas, maintaining contrast, and effectively mitigates the overly sharp and harsh feeling introduced by high-resolution digital devices. The result is a naturally soft and clear image, maintaining clarity without blurring, while adding a subtle cinematic quality.
CINE MiST filters are built upon our durable Ultra Layer® coating technology. STC Optics is focused on producing the tools so creators can focus on telling their stories in the most difficult shooting environments with zero vignetting menwhile protecting your camera sensor.

Installation Instructions
Due to varying QC standards across camera brands, even models of the same brand may have manufacturing tolerances. If the internal filter frame doesn’t fit properly, please contact STC support or headquarters. Do not force installation.
Disclaimer
STC’s Clip-in filters are innovative and rely on the camera’s internal structure for stability. Minor marks from installation may occur but do not affect camera functionality or warranty. STC will not cover these marks or offer compensation. Please consider this before purchasing if reselling your camera is a concern.

Frames can mount all kinds of filters, such as our Astro (light pollution) series; IR-Pass (590nm/720nm/850nm); UV-IR-Cut; 4-Stop (ND16), 6-Stop (ND64), 9-Stop (ND400), and 10-Stop (ND1000) Neutral Density filters, Cine Mist, and Star Mist.

The STC CineMist Filter features special etching on the lens surface, causing light to undergo subtle changes that soften the image without sacrificing detail and contrast. Commonly used in the Hollywood film industry, it softens landscape and still life photography, creating a vintage lens-like atmosphere.
Primarily used in portrait photography and videography to express dreamy beauty, psychedelic rock aesthetics, or nostalgic storytelling atmospheres. It also optimizes image texture for scenes such as Vlog interviews, personal videos, and commercial livestreams. Using the CineMist Filter offers a "what you see is what you get" effect, directly and physically optimizing the image to reduce post-production workload. It addresses skin blemishes and imperfections early in the process while maintaining clarity in the eyes, hair, and facial contours. At the same time, it gently diffuses bright reflections in areas such as backlit backgrounds, street lamps, neon LED lights, and other highlights. This subtle softening effect gives the overall image a sensual, atmospheric quality. When paired with flash photography, it softens the light, creating a gentle lighting effect.

Patented clip design fixes the filter firmly in place while you attach your lens. When you remove the clip filter, lay down your camera facing upwards so the filter does not touch the image sensor.
STC Interchangeable clip filter made of aerospace grade aluminum alloy, metallic mist black anodizing and chamfer processing made it gently and firmly lies in camera body and will not abrade the inner parts. The patented glass assembling design is tolerable to thermal expansion which reduces glass flatness change, thereby preventing telephoto images focusing

Usage scenarios are not limited to portrait creation. When used in landscape photography and environments with direct lighting, the CineMist filter can fully demonstrate its characteristics. Especially when working with diffused light and light overflow, it brings richer light effects to the image. It also reduces the excessive digital sharpness of ultra-high-resolution cameras or lenses without losing detail.

Under the same lighting conditions with fixed exposure settings, photographs were taken using STC clip-in CineMist filters of varying softness levels.
These four photos allow for comparing and discerning changes in direct light sources, reflected light, and diffused light within the scene.

Only one direct light source in the environment has changed, while the ambient and backlighting remain constant. The exposure settings are also fixed.
When shooting with the same softness level of STC clip-in CineMist filter, the intensity of the direct light source will also affect the degree of light diffusion and softening.
Therefore, there is no absolute result when using CineMist filters—you must choose based on the overall light sources of different origins and states!
