2017 Red Dot Design Award winner!
When taking underwater photography or video, different light frequencies are filtered the deeper you go down. First red, then orange, leaving only blue. Achieving the right color balance requires post-production time. STC's Aqua-Red Underwater Fader helps creators dynamically achieve natural color balance while underwater.
We've seen photographers use plastic lenses or gels to modify their underwater setups. Why settle for less? Spend more time enjoying the beauty of ocean life and minimize your post-production headaches with our patented STC Aqua-Red Underwater Fader! Check the videos made by LEODV, taken with Olympus TG6 + STC Aqua filter under natural light circumstances. Recommend turning on sound to watch.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Aqua-Red filter work underwater?
As you go deeper underwater, red and orange light frequencies are progressively filtered out, leaving only blue. The Aqua-Red Underwater Fader dynamically restores natural color balance in real time, reducing the need for post-production color correction.
What thread sizes are available?
Available in 67mm and 77mm.
Is this filter suitable for salt water use?
Yes. The filter is specifically designed for salt water usage and can be easily disassembled for cleaning. It features 1.6mm Schott B270 optical glass with an anti-salt corrosion polarizing film.
What is the impact resistance of this filter?
The filter can withstand an impact of 350MPa, equivalent to dropping a golf ball three times from a height of 120cm.
Is this filter covered by a warranty?
Yes. STC offers the world's first warranty and repair service for filters, covering this filter against manufacturing defects.

Taking pictures underwater is completely different from on land. When light enters the water, the intensity and the wavelength of the light are more and more affected the deeper you go. At a depth of six meters, the longer wavelength red light is absorbed, then orange follows at 10 meters. This is why pictures are taken underwater look bluish or greenish. The STC Aqua-Red Underwater Fader with its zigzag rotating mechanism adjusts for depth, correcting for blue and green wavelengths coming through.

Stepless adjustment mechanism corrects for blue shift or green shift from surface to 18m deep.

With our patented Ultra Layer coating, the lens can withstand 3% salt water at 70°C for 90 minutes. Coating adhesion can be maintained at a water drop elevation angle of 90° and above, extending the life of your filter in the harshest conditions. It is also easy to clean and maintain.

For the rim, we use precision machining for a tough and corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy frame. The inner circle is treated with non-stick Teflon and a matte black finish and the embossed frame is easy to rotate and won’t jam. The shock-absorbent frame also reduces the chance of damage to your lens if it takes a knock. We also offer a factory lifetime warranty and repair service for the frame and innovative maintenance services for the lens.

Our unique design features a pressure release valve to equalize water pressure between the filters, a water-draining hole, and a two-piece detachable structure so filters can be easily cleared.
