Full-spectrum conversion is a recent trend in infrared photography. When you remove the IR-CUT filter (a.k.a. hot mirror) from a consumer camera, infrared photography is possible. However, the infrared light entering the camera can result in undesirable color cast to the image when using a modified camera.
Fortunately, STC's UV-IR Cut Filter allows you to restore the original colors. UV-IR absorbing glass reduces color cast. STC's IR filters are intended to be used in full-spectrum cameras — you don't need to buy another camera just for IR photography!

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a UV-IR Cut Filter and who is it for?
The UV-IR Cut Filter is designed for full-spectrum converted cameras — cameras that have had their IR-CUT filter (hot mirror) removed. It restores natural color balance by blocking UV and infrared light, eliminating unwanted color cast without requiring a separate dedicated IR camera.
What spectrum options are available?
Available in 615nm, 625nm, and 635nm cut-off wavelengths, allowing you to choose the level of IR blocking that suits your shooting style.
What thread sizes are available?
Available in 58mm, 77mm, and 82mm.
Will this filter cause vignetting?
No. The 5mm shock-absorbent aluminum rim is specifically designed to reduce vignetting even when used with wide-angle lenses.
Is this filter covered by a warranty?
Yes. STC offers the world's first filter warranty and repair service, covering this filter against manufacturing defects.

There are currently two types of available IR Cut filter — absorbing and reflective. The reflective type costs less but often brings peripheral color cast when used with wide-angle lenses of focal length 35mm and below. So for the best results, the infrared-absorbing filter is the better choice. STC has released IR Cut filters of differing wavelengths for different cameras to get closest to restoring the original colors for each model.

We use Japanese optical-grade infrared-absorbing blue glass that effectively filters out infrared as well as excess red light. But as this glass is relatively easily scratched and can absorb, we add our eco-friendly EU RoHS 2.0 standard double-sided multilayer nanocoating that is hydrophobic, anti-reflective, anti-smudge, wear-resistant, and antistatic, making it very easy to keep clean while also defogging quickly.

For the rim, we use precision machining for a tough but lightweight aluminum alloy frame. The unique pressure ring design can allow as much light in as possible, while also reducing vignetting when using a wide-angle lens. The inner circle is treated with non-stick Teflon and a matte black finish and the embossed frame is easy to rotate. The shock-absorbent frame also reduces the chance of damage to your lens if it takes a knock. We also offer a factory lifetime warranty and repair service for the frame and innovative maintenance services for the lens.
