Frequently Asked Questions
Which cameras is this infrared clip filter compatible with?
This Infrared Clip Filter is compatible with Canon APS-C cameras and Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera (BMPCC) 6K and 6K Pro. Please check the Supported Camera & Lens List for the full compatibility list before purchasing.
Do I need to modify my camera to use this filter?
The IR Pass 590nm, 720nm, and 850nm variants are designed for use with modified (IR-converted) cameras. The UV-IR Cut variant can be used with unmodified cameras to block ultraviolet and infrared light for more accurate color reproduction.
What lenses are compatible with this clip filter on Canon APS-C cameras?
With Canon APS-C cameras, this clip filter can only be used with Canon EF lenses. Canon EOS M system users will need an EF-EOS M adapter to use our clip filters.
What is the difference between IR Pass 590nm, 720nm, and 850nm?
The cutoff wavelength determines how much visible light is blocked. 590nm allows some warm tones through for a golden-red effect; 720nm is the most popular choice for classic black-and-white infrared photography; 850nm blocks nearly all visible light for maximum infrared effect with longer exposures.
I received a filter labelled "Canon APS-C" but I have a BMPCC — is this correct?
Yes, this is correct. When you receive the filter it will be labelled as Canon APS-C, but it is fully compatible with your BMPCC 6K or 6K Pro camera.
Will mounting this filter affect my camera's autofocus?
After mounting the clip filter, your camera's autofocus will automatically adjust to the change in optical axis. No manual calibration is required for most supported camera models.
Is this filter covered by a warranty?
Yes. STC offers the world's first warranty and repair service for clip-in filters. Please contact STC support for details.

Frames can mount all kinds of filters, such as our Astro (light pollution) series; IR-Pass (590nm/720nm/850nm); UV/IR-Cut; and 4-Stop (ND16), 6-Stop (ND64), 9-Stop (ND400), and 10-Stop (ND1000) neutral density filters.
